Finnair Plc is improving environmental management efficiency in their properties at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport and in Helsinki. Finnair Facilities Management and Lassila & Tikanoja have entered into a five-year agreement to cover environmental management for the part of Finnair’s subsidiaries and business units. The agreement took force at the beginning of October and is part of a property and office support services agreement entered into earlier between Finnair and YIT, under which YIT has assumed a comprehensive responsibility for overall property maintenance.
The aim of the agreement is to arrange for efficient recycling of waste generated at Finnair’s premises and to minimise the amount of waste ending up on landfills. Finnair is looking to place itself among the leading airlines in Europe with regard to environmental responsibility for the part of their properties.
– In cooperation with the customer and YIT, we will develop Finnair’s environmental management functions to ascertain that an increasing portion of waste materials generated by Finnair’s properties and operations can be recycled. With our help, Finnair will be able to maintain their high-class environmental service and make ongoing improvement of environmental matters part of their day-to-day activities, says Petri Salermo, Sales Director, L&T.
Our environmental management services for Finnair’s properties comprise waste management and recycling services, archive and confidential materials destruction services as well as collection equipment. L&T is in charge of arranging waste management and recycling to meet the environmental management targets set by Finnair.
– L&T’s top expertise as well as their high-class and environmentally friendly services are exactly what we are looking for in a cooperation partner. It is important for us to make sure that waste materials generated as a result of our operations can be efficiently forwarded for reuse and recycling. This is important from an environmental point of view, but also helps us improve the efficiency of our operations, says Pekka Kuosmanen, Assistant Vice President, Finnair Facilities Management Oy.
