On 2 January 2004, Lassila & Tikanoja acquired Vatostep Oy, a company specialising in recovery and utilisation of waste fibre of paper and board factories. The net sales of Vatostep Oy amounted to EUR 6 million in 2003.
On 26 February 2004, Lassila & Tikanoja acquired the business operations of Muovinkeräys Oy. The company specialises in plastic recovery and employs 10 people. Established in 1976, Muovinkeräys Oy is the oldest Finnish company operating in this business area.
Lassila & Tikanoja has acquired Virtain Jätehuolto Oy. The business lines of Virtain Jätehuolto Oy are waste management, recycling and sewer maintenance, and it employs 9 people. The acquisition was effective on 1 March 2004. The acquired company is based in the city of Virrat, where L&T is conducting a feasibility study on a major recycling and disposal plant.
Lassila & Tikanoja has acquired the waste management and recycling operations of Arto Cederlöf Oy. Two employees will transfer to the L&T Vaasa unit, into which the acquired operations will be integrated. The acquisition was effective on 1 March 2004.
